Why this exists
Mystery party kits are fun, and a lot of work. The usual complaints are the same: too much printing, too much reading, and the whole plot falling over when one guest cancels. Everyone's a Suspect puts the game on everyone's phone, keeps every clue short, and is written so the story holds together with whoever turns up.
How a mystery is checked
Every mystery, ready-made or custom, has to pass the same software test before anyone plays it. For every possible guest list, from four suspects up to ten suspects and six witnesses:
- every innocent suspect can be cleared by a clue that someone other than the culprit holds, or that everyone can see;
- at least two clues point at the culprit, and the culprit cannot hide them;
- every player gets something to read and something to ask.
Written with AI
Every mystery on this site is written with AI. We use a leading commercial AI model, through the company that makes it.
The software test above is run on every mystery, ready-made or custom.
The ready-made mysteries are also read by AI test readers. A test reader gets the clues one round at a time, without the answer, and has to work out who did it. Anything a reader trips over is rewritten.
A custom mystery gets one AI reading of this kind before the host sees it. The reader gets the clues without the answer and has to name the culprit. If it names the wrong suspect, the clues are rewritten. If a custom mystery still cannot pass, we do not use it: you can ask for another, swap to a ready-made mystery, or get a refund.
